Lets Know the leave that acts as the building block for commuted leave: HALF PAY LEAVE

(i)             Half pay leave admissible to a Government servant in permanent employ in respect of each completed year of service shall be 20 days.

(ii)      The half pay leave may be granted to a Government servant on medical certificate or private affairs.

(iii)  Half pay leave can be converted into full pay leave by calling it as commuted leave.

(iv)          If a Government servant completes 10 years of service, then he will have 10X20=200 numbers of half pay leave at his credit in the leave account.

Commuted leave

(i)      2 numbers of half pay leave are combined to form 1 day of commuted leave.

(ii)       For Example, If a Government servant avails 5 days of commuted leave, then 10 days of half pay leave is deducted from his leave account.

(iii)     Commuted leave is generally granted on production of medical certificate (before proceeding on leave or after joining from leave).

(iv)   Commuted leave during the entire service period shall be limited to a maximum of 240 days.
